In celebration of National Fried Chicken Day on July 6th, indulge in this mouthwatering Ultimate Chicken Platter. This recipe brings together a variety of chicken pieces, expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection. It's a feast fit for any chicken lover!

 

Ingredients:

 

1 Whole Chicken, cut into pieces (legs, wings, drumette, thighs, breasts) Campbell Valley Farms Fresh Certified Organic Whole Chicken

2 Cups Buttermilk

2 Cups All-Purpose Flour

1 TBSP Paprika Chef Laura Gourmet 12 Spice Collection Tin Box

1 TBSP Garlic Powder

1 TBSP Onion Powder 

1 TBSP Dried Thyme 

1 TBSP Dried Oregano Chef Laura Gourmet 12 Spice Collection Tin Box

1 TSP Salt

Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

 

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. OR combine buttermilk and any other seasoning ingredients you prefer.

 

Add all the chicken pieces to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover the bowl and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

 

In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with an additional teaspoon of salt and black pepper.

 

Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).

 

Take each chicken piece out of the buttermilk marinade, allowing any excess to drip off, and coat it in the seasoned flour mixture. Ensure each piece is evenly coated.

 

Working in batches, carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through.

 

Once cooked, transfer the fried chicken pieces to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

 

Repeat the frying process with the remaining chicken pieces.

 

Serve the Ultimate Chicken Platter on a large platter, arranged with different types of chicken pieces. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
